EmblemHealth is a local, neighborhood health plan that has served the New York City area and surrounding communities for more than 75 years. They are one of the nation’s largest not-for-profit health plans, serving 3.1 million people who live and work across the New York tri-state area. EmblemHealth was formed from the merger of two companies, Group Health Incorporated (GHI) and Health Insurance Plan of Greater New York (HIP), both of which have local roots and share a rich health care history.
Currently Emblem has 3 networks to choose from!
EFFECTIVE January 1, 2024 only the Select Care Network will be available to all new and renewing groups.
The EmblemHealth Prime Network offers the best choices of top providers and hospitals in the tri-state area. The EmblemHealth Select Care Network features a carefully selected group of providers and hospitals to cover all medical specialties. The EmblemHealth Millennium Network is the most affordable network and gives members in the five boroughs, Nassau County, Suffolk County, and Westchester County access to top providers and hospitals in the region.
Prime network, is the largest of their 3 networks which includes TriState access for employees living in NY, NJ and CT. Members have access to the Qualcare network in NJ and the Connecticare network in CT. All of the major hospital systems in their service area are included.
Select Care network, is mainly comprised of the AdvantageCare Physicians and several of the big name hospitals in downstate NY. This network is missing Memorial Sloan Kettering, but does offer employees access to the NorthWell hospitals and Stony Brook. One major system for LI groups missing is the Catholic Hospital system (no St. Francis).
Millenium Network, which is a small network which encompasses 8 downstate counties. This network was designed to compete against Oxford Metro, Oscar Circle and the HealthFirst network. Millennium is missing Memorial Sloan Kettering, Hospital for Special Surgery, NYU, Lennox Hill, Northwell and Stonybrook. The Catholic Hospitals on Long Island are included.
New to their product portfolio this year is a POS Platinum option offered only on the Prime network on both the Platinum and Gold metallic tiers.
They have simplified plan names and are using either “Premier” or “Value” , the difference between them is higher deductibles. Premier plans offer a lower deductible, while the Value options have higher deductibles.
Plans using either the Prime or Select Care network are NON GATED, while all plan options on the Millennium network are GATED.
